LIFT MEN.DANCE.LIFE

This past weekend was a huge dance weekend here in Atlanta and ATL Dance Source had the opportunity to catch some of the performances. On Friday, May 6th we attended the opening night of Daryl Foster's presentation of "LIFT" at the Woodruff Arts Center. The show was outstanding! There is no other show like LIFT. The show not only captures the work of some amazing choreographers, but allows male dancers and choreographers an outlet to express themselves freely on stage. We commend Darly Foster for giving men the platform to create and share such limitless pieces of work.

Daryl along with seven other choreographers crafted an amazing show. The seven choerographer's included Brandon Keith "Brown Sugar (Love of my life)", Timothy Meyers "Morning shadow", Myles T. Johnson "In plain sight", Andre M. Zachary "Shedding truths", John James "Legacy", Juel D. Lane "Ego", Rodney A. Brown "Loving Lloyd", and Lamonte Ponder "Sometimes we cry". Daryl's work included two pieces titled "After" and "Foster care". "Foster care" was definitely a stand out piece with its focus on a mans struggle through the foster care system and his trials over the years. In order to capture the raw emotion, Daryl included an actor to express the heartfelt story. All in all, LIFT was a stand out show! If you missed the show be sure to catch it next year.
